We stayed as part of a vacation package. There was nobody to help with luggage, and we had to wait over 30 minutes to check in - in a line with only 2 clerks. Most of the "guests" were VIP's and went right in front of us - even though our rooms were prepaid. All of this is while inhaling large amount of cigarette smoke. Then after finally checking in, the manager didn't even give us instructions on how to find our rooms! The receipt had only abbreviations, and the place is enormous! The business office would not even print our airline boarding passes without charging us! There weren't enough lounge chairs by the pool for eveyone. We had to sit on the ground. Of course, you can pay for a shaded place. The room was nice, though very hot when we arrived, and took a long time to cool down. Even the restaurant had a VIP line, so the hot shots could go in front of us! If you aren't going to gamble, DON'T even consider this hotel!

Although the staff was friendly the suites could stand some major renovations. We stayed 5 nights at The Rio in the Masquerade Tower. Our room was very dated #40furniture television carpet and light fixtures#41 and more along the lines of a motel oppose to a four star hotel. The hall and room was stuffy with a slight smell. The air condition made a loud noise when turned on and the toilets were so loud when flushed. Although there are no resort fees there is a 14 fee per day per computer for the internet. The Rio also requires a 100 per day deposit for each day of guest stay held at time of check-in. For example if you are staying three days a 300 hold will be placed on your credit card to cover incidentals. On our last night there were two false alarms. The recorded message played up to five times stating they were checking on the situation then twice for the false alarm message. In reading other reviews it appears this is something that happens on a regular. If The Rio ever decide to remodel the suites I would stay again.

Hotel is NOTHING like it shows on line. Pool area boring and stark. Service not very attentive. Casino is dingy and 70's looking. Not the party scene we had hoped for. Exterior is in dire need of face lift. Room's were spacious but drab and boring. Will not go there again!!

This is a great place to stay in Vegas. It's less than a block from the strip and offers the quality available at strip hotels for a fraction of the cost. BEWARE: the rage in Vegas now is to advertise "No resort fees." Indeed, that is true at the Rio, but EVERYTHING is extra including the workout room. The workout room is an excellent facility, but I was led to believe by the hotel description on ALL the travel sites that this was included in the price of the room. It's not. Use of the workout room is $* per day, per person. An outrageous fee even if I was expecting it. Other than that, an awesome hotel and a great place to stay.

The hotel was very nice, but their customer service was terrible. The wait to check in was very long & the hotel was under staffed. I had to get something faxed & the charge was $7.00 which I though was highway robbery. I stay at hotels in many states 3 to 4 nights a week & never had to pay for faxes. Thank you
