The Riviera has that 'Old Vegas' feel. For a 55 year old property, it's not bad. Staffing is low, but those that were there did their best for us. The one issue we had, the front desk lady M was very helpful and surprisingly one of the nicest we've ever encountered, even at nicer hotels. Drinks by far are less expensive than the newer hotels. If you want 5 star service and are willing to pay for it, then stay elsewhere. The value for the room and everything else was worth the trip to the Riviera.

If you enjoy "nice" don't chose this hotel. It says it has been remodeled and the picture on the website looks nice enough but when we got there we realized it is not. First, they made us wait FOREVER in line to check in and only had 2 people at the desk - took 1 hr to check in. The hotel lobby is outdated and ugly and it is not a classy crowd. It is way too far away from the center of the strip so you need a car if you plan to be in the center of the action. I will say the beds were new and comfortable and there was a flat screen TV. The bathroom fixtures were old and crappy, the hotel smells. It feels like they tried to put perfume on a pig! We basically threw ourselves out of the hotel and only returned to change or sleep. If you plan to spend your time in the nice hotels/casinos it sticks out even more.

The Riviera is an older hotel and a little further down the strip from the other hotels. I have stayed here many times just because of the price. If youre going to be gone from your room for most of the day and night which we always are then this is a good place. We always take the Deuce bus to the other end of the strip. It does not take hours as another reviewer suggested. The bus picks you up right in front of the Riviera or directly across the street in front of Slots a fun if you want to avoid a stop at downtown casinos. You can buy a 24 hour pass for 5 and ride as often as you like within that 24 hours. The buffet and Kadys are just alright but we love#40!!#41 the Peppermill restaurant next door to the Riviera. Atmosphere is great food is delicious and reasonably priced and portions are huge! I have eaten there many times in the last five years and have never had a meal that didnt taste great. Breakfast is served there 24 hours and theres also lunch and dinner menus. Dont pass this place up especially for breakfast. Overall if you want to spend time in your room go somewhere else. If you only need the room for sleeping and showering this is your place.

I stayed at the Riviera Fri. thru Tues. and had a great time. It was my second stay on there property,and the service and cleanliness was very good both stays.It's an older hotel,opened ih 1955 I believe.Theres a lot of history in the hotel" they filmed the movie casino there". The staff were always kind and helpfull. Drinks were cheap at the bar!!! can't wait to go back

I don't come to Las Vegas to squat in a hotel room. All want from a hotel is a bed and a shower. The Riviera provides me and my friends decent and affordable accommodations. I've never had a problem while staying there, and the staff is very friendly. The bus stops just outside the front doors. You have cheap transportation to most of major casinos, including my favorite destination "the Fremont street experience". Don't waste your hard earned money on a luxury room, the Riviera will accommodate most normal Americans just fine.
